Mario’s Fig Collection – A Legacy of Excellence

For decades, Mario dedicated himself to assembling one of the most extensive private fig collections in the United States. At its peak, the orchard contained 350–400 distinct varieties, each meticulously documented for flavor, productivity, hardiness, and performance in the Northeast climate. Through years of rigorous selection, experimentation with pruning systems, training methods, and rootstocks, Mario refined the collection to an elite core of truly exceptional cultivars — the finest expressions of taste, texture, and reliability.

Following Mario’s passing, The Fig Collection continues his work under family stewardship. Our mission is simple: preserve these irreplaceable varieties, propagate them to the highest nursery standards, and make them available to serious collectors, growers, and enthusiasts across the country.

The varieties currently maintained in the collection are listed below. All plant material is produced from mother stock that has been grown, evaluated, and cherished for years — in many cases decades — on our property.

Availability of 6-month-old trees fluctuates with the pruning and propagation calendar.
